When diabetes mellitus is treated with insulin or glucose-lowering medications such as sulfonylureas, the risk of developing hypoglycemia while driving is a potential cause of road traffic accidents. However, the risk may be minimised if drivers observe various practical measures to avoid hypoglycemia while driving. We have prepared a publication for drivers with diabetes to provide information to help them to understand the risks associated with hypoglycemia and adopt relevant preventative measures. We would like to express our gratitude to several international colleagues for their assistance in the translation of the publication into other languages. It is now freely available on our website to our colleagues and patients for their use. All who participated in creating the publications have kindly given their time and expertise without any reward.
