Diabetes Mellitus, also known as diabetes,  is a disease in which an organism is not cable of maintaining normal levels of the blood sugar (glucose) concentration in the bloodstream . Normal levels are 3.5 – 6.0 mmol/l. Generally speaking the diabetic’s organism is not able to perfectly control the use of saccharides (sugars). There  are a number of kinds of Diabetes Mellitus: Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Secondary Diabetes Mellitus, Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and MODY Diabetes. Gestational Diabetes first occurrs during pregnancy. Diabetes  resulting from another  illness is called Secondary Diabetes Mellitus. There are approx. 15 -20,000 patients with Secondary Diabetes Mellitus.
